The Weight of Silence
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the kitchen, the spoon rests on the edge of the counter, its metal cool from the night. It has been used to stir tea, to taste the broth, to cut through the steam, but never to speak. Each pass over the surface leaves a faint line, a memory of heat and motion. When the house falls silent after dinner, the spoon remains, a simple witness to moments that no one else notices. It is not heavy with meaning, yet it carries the quiet purpose of doing its work without fanfare.
