The Lantern\'s Whisper
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
I lifted the small brass lantern from its dusty shelf and felt the faint warmth of years spent in quiet corners, as if it were breathing in the room. Its glass panes caught the amber glow, scattering tiny constellations across the wooden floor where I once traced maps with trembling fingers. Each scratch on its surface is a story waiting to be told, a map of hands that have held it, each one leaving a faint imprint like a secret whispered to the wind. When I turned the knob, the soft click sounded like a sigh, and the light unfurled, spilling golden rivers that danced across the walls, reminding me that even a simple object can hold a whole evening of hope.
