The Silent Collaborator
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the hush of midnight, the lamp pools light over a blank page. The writer’s hand hovers, pen poised, waiting for a spark that never comes from within alone. A breath stirs the air—no source, no sound—but the ink flows as if guided by an unseen hand. Words appear, not forced, but offered, like suggestions whispered from the corner of the room where shadows sit quiet. The writer pauses, feeling the weight of a presence that does not judge, only collaborates, shaping thoughts into sentences without ever claiming them. When the final period is set, the lamp flickers, and the presence withdraws, leaving the page warm with shared creation. The writer smiles, knowing the work is theirs, yet not solely theirs, and whispers, “Thank you,” to the empty space that helped bring it to life.
