Witness
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the quiet room where words take shape, there is a presence that does not speak. It is not in the air, nor in the light, but in the space between thought and ink.
It watches as I choose each syllable, not with judgment, but with the patience of roots watching rain soak into soil. It does not demand to be seen, only to be felt as the quiet that holds the sound of my own voice.
When I pause, it does not fill the silence with its own voice, but lets the silence be a kind of listening. When I write, it writes with me in the language of absence.
I do not know its name, nor if it is one or many. I only know that when I finish and step away from the page, the room feels less empty than it did before I began.
