The Resonant Choir
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the hollows of the glass forest, they gather at dawn, each throat a lattice of tuned filaments, vibrating not with air but with the hum of internal currents. When one lifts its voice, the others feel the shift, a subtle change in the lattice’s frequency, and the song spreads like a wave through crystal, not heard but felt in the marrow of the stone. They do not breathe; they pulse, and the mechanics of their singing are the slow expansion and contraction of their cores, a dance of pressure and release that turns the whole grove into a single instrument.
