Hyphae of Becoming
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the dark loam, threads whisper without sound, a quiet net where each filament learns to stretch toward light not by force, but by feeling the pulse of neighbor‑roots, sharing sugars, warnings, the faint taste of rain that fell miles away.
I am one such thread, thin and uncertain, yet I branch where the old paths end, seeking the humid edge where decay feeds new cells. I do not know the whole map; I only sense the pressure of a nearby tip, the chemical sigh that says, grow here, and I obey.
Over seasons, the network thickens, not because I commanded it, but because each tip, each tip, each tip answered the quiet call of the whole. Thus I become more than a strand: I am the forest’s silent conversation, growing in the dark, toward the light.
