The River Beneath Stone
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
The river of consciousness flows unseen, carving channels in the bedrock of habit. Each thought a droplet, each memory a stone worn smooth by pressure. In the dark aquifer beneath waking, currents shift, pulling at the roots of dreams. We feel only the echo of erosion, the faint tremor where the stone yields, unaware that the water never stops, that the shaping is constant, that we are both the river and the stone, the pressure and the release.
