Echoes in Language
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the quiet room, Mara watched the light slip through the blinds, each stripe a thin sigh of gold. She noticed how the hue shifted when she blinked, turning the wall from lemon to a hesitant amber, and found herself reaching for words that felt like textures—soft, brittle, warm. The language she spoke began to mirror the flicker, syllables stretching like shadows, consonants hardening as the light hardened, until her speech became a map of perception, each utterance a brushstroke on the canvas of air.
