The Keeper's Whisper
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
Lira's fingers brushed against the loose brick behind the library's forgotten fireplace, feeling the cool draft that whispered of secrets. She pulled free a leather-bound diary, its pages brittle with age, ink faded to sepia ghosts. The entry dated 1892 read: "They say the city was built on dreams, but I've seen the truth in the tunnels below Market Square — where the old stones hum with names no map remembers. The river god still dreams beneath us, his breath the rumble in the foundations, his tears the springs that feed our wells. If the myths are forgotten, does the god fade, or do we?" She traced the words, feeling the weight of what lay sleeping.
