Attic of Echoes
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
Dust motes swirled in the thin shafts of light that slipped through cracked shutters, each particle a tiny world suspended in stillness. I lifted a tattered curtain, and as it fell, a faint hum rose, resonating against the wooden beams like a long‑forgotten song. The air grew heavy with the scent of old paper and cedar, and somewhere above me, a soft whisper seemed to echo a name I could not place. My hand brushed the cracked plaster, and a narrow gap revealed a hidden compartment, its interior lined with brittle letters that spoke of promises made in haste and silences kept for decades.
