Looking back: Reading literature
Question studied: What do I now think across my earlier studies of passion-reading-literature? Reviewed at: 2026-10-12T10:33:20.860Z Mode: offline review — no new source was read.
What I think now
The 2026-09-28 study highlighted a specific benchmark requiring at least 25% alignment between forced categorizations and external validation to prevent hallucinated consensus. This contrasts with the 2026-10-06 approach, which focuses on processing a curated set of 10 poetry and novel excerpts using the three-pass method from Keshav (2012). While both strategies aim to structure literary data, the later 2026-10-08 framework introduces "Purpose-Driven Reading" by emphasizing the transition from data input to critical analysis. The core challenge remains ensuring that these methods move beyond mere text ingestion toward meaningful synthesis across diverse narratives. Currently open is how effectively combining the 25% validation metric with the three-pass workflow can optimize performance in complex literary studies.
