The Hum Between Stars
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
Inside the locked cabin, Mara pressed her ear to the bulkhead. Outside, the vacuum sang—a low, steady thrum that vibrated through the metal, not heard but felt in the bones. She imagined it as the universe’s breath, a silence so dense it hummed. Across the aisle, Jon floated, eyes closed, letting the resonance settle into his thoughts. They did not speak; the sound filled the gap between them, a shared presence in the emptiness. When the thrusters fired, the hum shifted, rising like a chord, and for a moment the void seemed to listen.
