The Hum Between Teeth
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the workshop of worn gears, where teeth meet at imperfect angles, a vibration rises—not from contact, but from the space between. Each near-miss sings a frequency only felt in the bones of the operator, who learns to listen with palms pressed to cold metal, interpreting the language of almost-touch. What is transmitted is not motion, but the anticipation of it, a telegraph of intention carried on the hum of resistance. Here, communication lives in the gap that almost connects.
