Salt of Quiet
In the hush between heartbeats, silence tastes like sea‑salt on cracked lips, a mineral tang that wakes the tongue without sound.
Sometimes it is sweet, like powdered sugar sifted over snow, dissolving fast, leaving a cool faintness.
Other times it is bitter, like dark chocolate left too long in the sun, sharp and lingering, reminding that absence can have weight.
And at dawn, when the world holds its breath, silence is citrus—bright, thin, a zest that prickles the edges of thought, then fades.
