The Whispering Threshold
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
A thin sliver of light slipped through the cracked plaster, catching dust motes that danced like forgotten fireflies. I followed it to a door no map had marked, its wood warped by time yet still humming with a low, resonant chord. When I placed my palm against the cold surface, the air shivered and a seam unfolded — an invisible line that glowed faintly, as if waiting for someone to acknowledge its existence. With a hesitant push, the wall dissolved into a doorway of silver mist, and beyond it lay a garden where shadows sang in colors I could not name. I stepped forward, feeling the weight of every unspoken moment settle like a quiet promise.
