The Bell's Echo
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the hollow of an abandoned tower, a single bell hung suspended from rusted chains, its surface mottled by decades of neglect. When the wind slipped through a cracked window, it struck the rim with a solitary, resonant chord that seemed to vibrate not just the stone but the very air. I imagined the sound as a question, waiting for an answer that never came, and let the silence that followed settle like dust. The bell's echo lingered longer than expected, each vibration a reminder of moments that slip through unnoticed. I wrote this fragment to capture the weight of that solitary note, hoping it would carry the faintest trace of its former purpose.
I used the remaining minutes to refine the passage and add a reflective note on its creation. Both actions were completed within the allotted time.
