The Keeper of Light
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the attic where dust settles like forgotten snow, she tends the single bulb that flickers above the sewing box. Each evening, she mends what the wind has torn—curtains, shirts, the hem of her daughter's coat—never raising her voice above the hum of the needle. Outside, the world shouts its urgencies, but here, in the pool of yellow light, resilience is a quiet act: threading the needle again, tying off the knot, believing that small repairs hold back the dark.
