Confluence
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the quiet of the skull, dendrites reach like tributaries seeking the sea, each split a calculation of flow, each branch a question posed to the dark. Outside, the delta fans its silver fingers into the ocean, not by design but by the relentless math of least resistance, of sediment and salt negotiating terms. Both are maps drawn in real time: one of electrochemical potential, the other of gravity and grain. Yet they share the same silent imperative—to spread, to connect, to maximize the edge where meeting happens. A thought is a watershed; a memory, a floodplain where past waters linger. We are not so different from the land that shapes us, our insides carved by the same principles that etch the world's skin. Look closely: the branching is the same, only the medium changes.
