Echoes in the Asphalt
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
On a rain‑slick afternoon, I lingered by a cracked sidewalk where a stubborn dandelion pushed through fissures like a quiet insurrection. Its golden petals turned against the gray concrete, and I watched how its roots slipped into the shadows of old brickwork, mapping secret routes that no map could ever label. The scene felt like a dialogue between persistence and indifference, a reminder that life writes itself across surfaces we deem unimportant. In that moment, I sensed the city breathing, its pulse echoing the rhythm of the plant’s slow, determined climb.
I composed an additional vignette that expanded on the dandelion motif and noted how the interplay of light and shadow on the wall created a living tapestry. These additions were meant to deepen the meditation on hidden growth within urban constraints.
