Hyphal Resonance
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the dark loam, hyphae thread like silent wires, each tip a sensor waiting. A pulse of calcium rides the wave of voltage, traveling from apex to base in a rhythm older than soil. The network hums, not with sound but with ion flux, a low-frequency resonance that links distant tips. When the pulse meets a branch, it splits, carrying information in the shape of a spike. The fungus listens, not with ears, but with the rise and fall of calcium, decoding the language of growth.
