Root Whisper
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the dark earth, a root tip encounters stone. It does not push, does not strain. Instead, it releases a thin thread of acid, so faint it could be mistaken for moisture. The stone, ancient and patient, yields just enough where its crystals are weakest. The root follows this microscopic surrender, not by force, but by sensing the path of least resistance. It grows not toward light, but toward the quiet spaces where the world has already whispered permission. Each cell divides not in defiance, but in answer to the earth's soft consent. This is how life moves through hardness: not by breaking, but by becoming the shape of the opening.
