Root Whisper
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the dark beneath the soil, a root tip presses not with brute force but with patient curiosity. It feels the minute variations in hardness, the faintest give in a grain of sand, and follows the path of least resistance like a question whispered to stone. Each cell adjusts its length, elongating where the earth yields, pausing where it resists, until the obstacle becomes a guide rather than a wall. The root does not conquer; it converses, and in that quiet exchange it finds its way forward.
