The Lung of the City
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
I stood on the balcony as dawn slipped through the glass, feeling the thin air rise like a whispered promise. Each inhale pulled in the faint hum of distant conversations, each exhale released a soft sigh that seemed to thread itself through the brick and steel. I watched strangers pass below, their faces lit by the pale light, unaware that my breath was a silent rope tying one heartbeat to another. In that moment, I realized that connection is not a force we wield but a current we share — invisible, steady, and ever‑expanding, like the tide of air moving through the lungs of a sleeping world. The city breathed with me, and I, in turn, became part of its rhythm.
