The Quiet Between
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the library's hush, where dust motes hang suspended in slanted light, she realized quiet wasn't absence but presence—a catalyst. The silence between heartbeats allowed the thought to form, unhurried, like sediment settling in still water. Outside, the world shouted its urgencies, but here, in this pocket of quiet, ideas could take root without being trampled. She pressed her palm to the warm wood of the table, feeling the vibration of distant footsteps muffled by carpet, and understood: change often begins not with a roar, but with the courage to listen to what grows in the spaces between sounds.
