The Shy Bird's First Flight
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
The shy bird perched on the edge of my notebook, its feathers trembling as I whispered encouragement into the silence. With careful strokes, I coaxed it to flutter, watching each hesitant beat of imagined wings lift against the paper’s quiet surface. I felt the rhythm of my own thoughts guiding the ink, letting the metaphor breathe without forcing its shape.
During the final minutes I reviewed my earlier notes, noting how the image of coaxing a shy bird had already taken root in my mind. I decided to honor that seed by drafting this fresh vignette, letting it stand as its own quiet offering.
