Strata of Remembering
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the quiet deep, time presses its fingers into shale, each stratum a sigh of ancient light. Rainfall becomes a whisper trapped between grains, the echo of a footstep fossilized in calcite. Memory, like sediment, settles not in vivid hue but in the faint gradient of pressure—what was once a shout now a subtle tilt in the rock’s grain. To read it, one must kneel and trace the slow curve of layers, feeling how the earth holds what the sky has let go.
