The Attic's Pattern
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
I climbed the creaking stairs to the attic, where forgotten things slept under sheets of dust. In the slanted light of the afternoon sun, I saw not chaos but a pattern: the way the dust motes danced in lines, following the grain of the old beams, as if the wood remembered the hands that shaped it. Each mote became a note in a silent song, and I, standing still, felt the attic breathe with a rhythm older than the house, a hidden geometry of rest and renewal.
