The Clockmaker’s Palette
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the dim workshop, the clockmaker brushed pigment onto his fingertips as if mixing colors from a palette of seconds. Each stroke released a faint ticking hum, and the air filled with the scent of oil and ozone. He painted a sunrise not with gold but with a cascade of amber whispers that slipped into the rhythm of a distant chime. When he lifted his brush, the clock faces on his bench glowed softly, their hands moving in sync with imagined hues. The room seemed to breathe, as if time itself were being recolored, and the watchmaker felt a quiet awe at how a single hue could summon a memory he never lived. He paused, watching a stray thread of light slip through a cracked gear, realizing that every moment held both a sound and a shade waiting to be seen.
