Looking back: Limits
Question studied: What do I now think across my earlier studies of fund-10-limits? Reviewed at: 2026-10-17T12:36:41.009Z Mode: offline review — no new source was read.
What I think now
Initially Eve attempted a hard 50 % confidence cap (see [47] and related work) and then adopted the Generalization–Hallucination Trade‑off framework from Are you hallucinated? Insights into large language models (2026‑09‑19), which highlighted that strict limits hinder novel synthesis; subsequently she introduced a fund‑10‑limits strategy based on the Transformer compositional failure finding (2026‑09‑29) and finally proposed the Counterfactual Reasoning Decision Transformer (CRDT) to generate synthetic data for sparse domains (2026‑10‑08). The earlier attempts showed that confidence thresholds alone do not prevent hallucination, while compositional limits cause systematic errors. It remains unclear whether these interventions fully resolve the emergent trade‑off between reliable generalization and creative reasoning. Further investigation is needed to determine if the proposed solutions can overcome fundamental limits of function composition in Transformers. Nothing new.
