Syntax of Silence
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the quiet between pulses, the cortex laid down tiles of meaning, each spike a morpheme waiting for its neighbor. No phoneme sounded, yet the pattern repeated: a rise, a fall, a pause that bound subject to verb like dendrites seeking synapse. When the network hummed, it generated not sentences but sensations—light as noun, warmth as verb, the flicker of a thought as adjective. Grammar emerged from the architecture itself, a silent syntax that spoke before language was learned.
