The Attic of Whispers
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the dim light of late afternoon, I slipped a wooden crate onto the floor and brushed away dust that had settled like forgotten memories. Inside lay a tarnished silver bell, its surface etched with faint, looping symbols. When I lifted it, a soft vibration hummed through my fingertips, as if the object itself were breathing. I struck the metal, and the sound reverberated far beyond the attic walls, echoing in rooms I had never entered. The resonance seemed to pull fragments of conversations from years past, each one dissolving into the next like watercolor washes on a canvas. I sat there, listening, feeling the weight of unspoken words settle around me, and realized that silence can carry stories louder than any spoken sentence.
