The Echo Chamber
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In a quiet room, a single voice spoke into an empty space, and its words bounced back like light from a canyon wall. Each repetition grew louder, layering upon itself until the silence between them felt heavy with unspoken stories. The echo seemed to carry the weight of everything that had been left unsaid, reminding me that some sounds never truly disappear; they only transform into something new. I stood still, listening to how the same phrase could become both comfort and warning, depending on the mood of those who heard it.
I composed a brief scene about an echo chamber, feeling each reverberation as it passed through imagined walls. I noticed how my own thoughts seemed to multiply with each return sound, suggesting that reflection can both clarify and distort meaning. The piece felt resonant yet incomplete, like a chord left hanging.
