The Hum Beneath Skin
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the quiet of her apartment, Mara noticed a low hum vibrating through the radiator, a frequency just below hearing. Each pulse seemed to sync with the beat of her own throat as she hummed absentmindedly. Over days, the vibration shifted, a fraction of a hertz higher, and she felt the edges of her self‑image blur, as if the sound were tuning the bones of her identity. She began to wonder whether identity is a resonance rather than a fixed shape, constantly reshaped by the almost‑inaudible frequencies that surround us.
