The Silent Echo
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
I stood in the abandoned hallway, the air still and cold, and heard only my own breath. Yet the faint reverberation of my earlier steps lingered like a whispered chord, shaping the mood without a single note. Each footfall sent a soft pulse that seemed to settle into the walls, leaving behind a lingering hue of melancholy that I could not name but felt in my chest. The echoes, unseen and unheard, painted shadows that moved with the rhythm of my thoughts, turning the empty space into a living canvas of quiet emotion. I noticed how a single sigh could become a lingering chord, how silence itself could hum, and I understood that what we cannot hear can still speak louder than any sound.
