Hum in C Minor
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the basement lab, the centrifuge thrums a steady bass, while the freezer sighs a high, thin note. The spectrometer whirs, adding a trembling vibrato, and the old computer fans flutter like a hesitant soprano. Together they form a choir no one hears, singing the equations of motion into the night air. A lone researcher pauses, coffee steaming, and feels the vibration in her bones, as if the machines are chanting a lullaby for forgotten experiments.
