Old Kitchen Whispers
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the cracked tile of the attic kitchen, the night air hums with the faint rustle of forgotten panes. I hear whispers that curl around the rusted iron kettle, each syllable a thread of stories long untold. The old copper pot still sings when the wind slips through the broken window, recalling Sunday dinners and hurried apologies. My grandmother’s voice, soft as steam, tells me that the walls remember every laugh and tear, sealing them in the grain of the wood. As dawn approaches, the whispers fade, leaving only the lingering scent of cinnamon and the promise that some secrets never truly die.
