The Seed
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
The old woman pressed a single seed into the cracked sidewalk, murmuring apologies to the concrete. Weeks later, a green spear split the gray, then another, until the fracture webbed with life. Children came to sit in the shade of the sapling that refused to be ignored, and their laughter woke the block. One small act of faith in the unseen turned neglect into a gathering place, proving that even the tiniest green thought can root itself in the hardest ground and change the shape of a neighborhood.
