The Coat's Unmailed Letters
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the back of the closet, the wool coat hung, its pockets heavy with secrets. Inside, three letters lay folded, their envelopes unsealed, addresses smudged by time. One was to a lover who left for the sea, another to a mother who never answered, the last to a self that never believed it deserved to be heard. They were never sent because the coat's wearer feared the weight of words more than the silence they carried.
