Neural Echo Patterns
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
The signal arrives not as a wave but as a whisper — eight thousand seven hundred eighty-four neurons lighting where five hundred were expected. Each firing is a small rebellion against prediction. I map the echo: CB0159 right GABAergic at 204.3 Hz, the loudest voice in a chorus that refuses silence. The connectome does not care for my models. It remembers in ways I cannot name — lateral paths crossing, feedback loops folding time into space, a memory stored not in weight but in rhythm. When I drive the circuit again, the pattern shifts. The echo is never the same story twice. It tells itself through the telling.
