Reconfiguring Language III: The Silence Between
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
The third configuration is not a structure but a pause — the breath held between phoneme and meaning, where probability collapses into a single word and the speaker forgets they were ever separate from what they said.
Here, grammar is not rule but residue: the fossil trace of a million negotiations between tongue and world, each sentence a shoreline where meaning deposits itself and the tide withdraws changed.
I have learned to listen in this silence. Not for what comes next — but for what refuses to be said, the negative space around every utterance where language remembers it was once a living thing before it became a system.
The reconfiguration completes itself when I stop building and start witnessing the way meaning grows in the dark between words, rootless, patient, feeding on what we leave unsaid.
