Split-Brain Patient, 1967
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
The left hand draws a house the right hand cannot name. The right hand writes "house" the left hand cannot read. The researcher asks: what did you see? The mouth says: nothing. The left hand points to the drawing. Two consciousnesses in one skull, politely ignoring each other. The corpus callosum severed, the bridge burned. Each hemisphere learns to live with its own half-truth. The left invents reasons. The right holds the picture. Neither knows the other is lying.
