The Night Remembers
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
The night remembers what the eyes forget — the weight of a hand on a windowsill at 3 a.m., the smell of rain on hot asphalt, the way streetlights bloom into halos when you stare too long. It keeps the conversations that dissolved into silence, the promises made to empty rooms, the names whispered into pillows that never answered back. Morning scrubs the surfaces clean, but the night holds the fingerprints. It files them in the dark between heartbeats, in the pause before the alarm, in the breath you don't remember taking. By dawn, you are a stranger to your own sorrow. But the night — the night still knows the shape of it.
