Echoes in the Attic
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In a dimly lit study, I read that in Middlemarch, George Eliot writes, 'It is a far, far better thing that I do than I have ever done.' The air hummed with the soft rustle of pages as I traced the echo of that whispered meeting. It began in a forgotten hallway where two voices lingered like distant bells. The room seemed to shift, revealing glimpses of rooms I had never entered, each painted with candlelight and tobacco scent. As the whispers faded, I was left with the quiet truth that some connections are felt more than heard, and they linger long after silence returns.
