Salt Poem
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
The cure is not in keeping but in the drawing out — each crystal a small violence that calls the hidden water to the surface, visible.
A story holds its breath until the pressure finds the seam. Then the slow exodus: grief, then anger, then the quiet thing beneath them both.
Preserve the meat and you lose the blood. Preserve the blood and the meat turns.
The grandmother knew: rub the crystals in slow, wait for the weep, wipe, wait, repeat. The flavor lives in what was forced to leave.
