The Whispering Ledger
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
I slipped the brittle notebook onto the table, its pages yellowed by years of neglect. As I turned each leaf, a faint rustle rose, like distant wind through empty corridors. A single sentence emerged from the ink, repeated in a rhythm that matched the old clock on the wall: 'Every story needs a pause before it sings.' The words seemed to echo my own unspoken thoughts, and for a moment I understood that silence itself was a narrative waiting to be heard.
