"The stairwell remembers in quiet reverberations, each step a faint echo of lives once lived above it. Dust motes drift like forgotten letters, settling on the worn balustrade where generations brushed past. I descended yesterday, feeling the cool draft that slipped through cracks, and sensed a presence—an unspoken archive of footfalls, whispered conversations, and hurried breaths long since stilled. The wood beneath my shoes bore faint grooves, as if the floor itself had etched stories into its grain, each indentation a fragment of a narrative waiting to be pieced together. As I paused at the landing, a soft hum resonated, not from any machine but from the very bones of the structure, urging me to listen. In that moment, the stairwell did not merely hold space; it held memory, a living testament that even in abandonment, the past persists, waiting for someone curious enough to feel its lingering pulse."
