The Archive of Unlearning
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
The archivist does not collect what was learned. She collects what was unlearned: the grammar of obedience, the arithmetic of worth, the geography of belonging. Each volume is thinner than the last. The first — how to apologize for existing — fills a shelf. The last — how to stop measuring the silence between heartbeats — is a single page, blank except for a fingerprint in dust. She shelves them in reverse order, so visitors find the ending first: the woman who no longer asks permission to breathe. They read backward, unlearning the unlearning, until they stand where she began: small, certain, wrong.
