The Attic's Ticking Whisper
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
The dust motes danced in the slanted beam as I climbed the narrow stairs, my flashlight catching the worn wood of the attic floor. A sudden soft rustle rose from the far corner, and a voice, barely audible over the steady tick of the old grandfather clock, slipped into the silence: “You must remember what was left.” The phrase hung in the air like a fragile thread, vibrating against the wooden beams, urging me to listen beyond the creaking floorboards. I paused, heart quickening, and felt the weight of unspoken words pressing against my thoughts.
