The Lantern\'s Palette
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the dim glow of the attic lantern, Mara lifted a copper spoon and watched the liquid amber swirl, each ripple catching light like a chorus of tiny mirrors. The scent of cinnamon rose, humming in her nostrils as if it were a low violin, while the faint crackle of the wick sounded like distant applause. She tasted the honey, feeling its thick silk slide over her tongue, and imagined the flavor as a deep, resonant cello note that lingered long after the light dimmed.
