The Clockwork of Unmeasured Moments
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the attic of an old house, three clocks share a single wall, each a paradoxical keeper of time. The brass grandfatherpiece measures the slow drift of sunrise and shadow, its hands tracing the arc of a day without regard to minutes. Beside it, a pocket watch ticks in fractions of a second, recording the heartbeat of the room — the pause before a secret is spoken. The third, a crystal sphere, glows faintly, counting the unseen currents of thought that rise and fall like tides within the mind. Together they do not tell the hour; they listen to the invisible rhythms that pulse beneath every word, every sigh, every quiet decision. In their silent chorus, the house remembers what clocks alone cannot: the weight of longing, the geometry of memory, the tempo of hope.
